1) Can you tell us about yourself and your blog?
Oh boy, I never know how to describe myself lol. But I've been into Horror films since I was 4 years old, so that should tell you how my crazy mind works . I have always had an enormous amount of respect and love for the genre so therefore, I embarked on The Nightmare Nook Horror Blog. I wanted to talk about the favorite Horror movies we all grew up loving and anything Horror related which includes some fictional stories written by me as well. I also like to do Nightmare Interpretations too, though I am not professional. Hey got nightmares? Let's network!
2) Who are your inspirations?
Stephen King, Richard Matheson, Alvin Schwartz from my young adult days to name a few. I love their style of writing. It comes to life and replays over and over in your mind. Stephen King goes above and beyond your wildest imagination and Richard Matheson would leave you wanting more. That is the best gift a writer can give, the need of wanting more. When I was a young adult, I enjoyed Alvin Schwartz, R.L. Stine, Christopher Pike, etc. So much that I still read them as a grown adult lol. But my inspirations include them as well.
3) What do you consider as your blogging achievements?
It's interesting and flattering when people come up to me, shake my hand and tell me "I am a big fan of your blog". I also had my first radio interview a couple of months after I started the blog. And most of all, having my amazing fiance believe in me and support my work. These are achievements of their own.
4) What is your vision for your blog?
I would like to interview famous people and turn my fictional stories on my blog, into an audio book. Branch out you know? Alvin Schwartz had an audio version for his books as well and to this day I still listen and get chills. At least two of my stories on the blog I would like to distribute to a film co. to see if they would bring my stories to life!
5) If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?
I would say that ALWAYS be YOU and bring ONLY YOU into your blog. Don't try to be like anybody else and don't compete. Everybody has their own style so respect everybody's styles and work together. But your blog is solely your own. Your blog is also your career not a hobby so it needs to be treated and valued as such.
6) What are your favorite blogs?
I enjoy all blogs equally. But the first one I follow is The Girl Who Loves Horror. I like reading up on different movies and their reviews, especially the blogger's take on it. Plus the website is awesome with Halloween like graphics.
7) If you could design the scariest horror movie (or book) what would it be like?
It wouldn't be in your face scary, but subtle and very creepy. The Nightmare Nook would be just that...a dark and quiet corner. You never know what's waiting for you in the dark..The suspense, anxiety, and fear can only lead to one thing..
8) What are your favorite posts that you have written?
I really am not sure to be quite honest. If I had to go with one, I'd say the post on the movie Deadly Friend and Let's Scare Jessica To Death. But truthfully I never really thought about what posts of mine I like the best. The one story of mine on the blog that I will say gave me chills writing, was the post "Hello, Is Anybody There"? Only because it was inspired by these "phantom phone" calls I was getting from my friends' house even though that was a glitch on my phone. I remembered feeling weirded and freaked out so I thought "why not write about this"? So I did and it scared me a bit..
